2007-2008 Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor Nominations Now Being Accepted
The Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs is accepting nominations beginning May 30, 2008, for the Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor, the highest national award for valor by a public safety officer. The medal is awarded by the President to public safety officers cited by the Attorney General who have exhibited exceptional courage in protecting or saving lives.
Acts of valor performed from June 1, 2007 to May 31, 2008 by public safety officers can be nominated by the chief executive of their employing agencies. The 2007-2008 Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor Nomination form can be found online at ojp.usdoj.gov/medalofvalor. Nominations will be accepted beginning Friday, May 30 and must be submitted no later than Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. EDT.
