| Community policing should be a key component of the nation's homeland security efforts. That's just one of more than 40 recommendations found in Partnerships to Promote Homeland Security. This document, Volume 5 in the series, examines issues of notification, general threat warnings, intelligence and data sharing, community policing principles, how resources should be spent, issues of trust, and much more. It briefly outlines local and state enforcement responsibilities, as well as several examples of homeland security collaborations, and it clarifies the challenges law enforcement faces in addressing the threat of terrorism while continuing to handle traditional crimes.By Heather J.
