SAN FRANCISCO, C.A. –The National Police Foundations Project (the “Project”) will hold, on September 22, 2011, in San Francisco, CA, the fourth of six planned technical assistance workshops on founding local police foundations.

The program will be held from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Hilton San Francisco located at Union Square.  The workshop is open to individuals representing law enforcement agencies, private sector and non-profit partners, and staff and board members of current police foundations. The target audience is people who are interested in establishing, working with, and or growing a foundation.

Participants will come away with an understanding of the procedures for forming a police foundation; the elements essential to running a successful foundation; the skills required on both the police department side and the foundation side to create a successful partnership; challenge of attracting private support; and the resources available to assist these efforts.  Presenters will include nationally recognized police foundation experts, Pamela Delaney and Karen Wagener, former presidents of the NYC and the LA police foundations, respectively.

This Project is made possible by grants from the Office of Community Oriented Police Services (COPS) , the Target Corporation and Motorola.

The workshops are free but registration is required.  Please contact for registration information.  The remaining workshop scheduled for 2011 will be held in New Orleans on December 8 and January, 2012 in Washington, DC.
